Craps Lingo: “Field Bet”
In a craps game, a “field bet” is a one-time bet that the next roll will be one of the numbers in the field box. The numbers in this box are 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11 and12. All but the 2 and 12 pay even money. The 2 pays double, and the 12 pays triple. When the shooter rolls a 5, you might hear the dealer say “five, no field five!”
