Debbie Reynolds at The Stardust
In her 65 years in showbiz, Debbie Reynolds has seen the highs and lows of her chosen career. After winning a beauty contest at 16, she signed a contract with MGM Pictures, where she appeared in several hit films during her tenure there, including 1952’s Singin’ In The Rain and 1964’s The Unsinkable Molly Brown (for which she received an Oscar nomination). She also appeared in 1957’s Tammy and the Bachelor, and went on to have a major hit with both the movie and the theme song, which she sang. Her career hit a snag, however, in 1970, when after a fight with NBC over cigarette ads on her TV show, the network canceled it without warning.
Reynolds kept busy doing bit parts in movies and television, and running a short-lived movie memorabilia museum in Las Vegas. But it wasn’t until 1999 that her career got a second wind when she was cast in the recurring role of Bobbi Adler on NBC’s hit comedy, “Will & Grace.”
April 20, Reynolds returns to the Vegas stage for three nights of shows at The Stardust. Her repetoire of songs is sure to include her many hits from the 50s and 60s, as well as other classic tunes.
