Depeche Mode Takes It Outside at The Hard Rock
Though the band’s roots date back to the mid-70s, it wasn’t until the 80s that Depeche Mode became an international sensation. They first hit big with the synth-pop tune “Just Can’t Get Enough,” but when one of the founding members left, the band, led by singer Dave Gahan and guitarist/keyboardist Martin Gore, forged on, delving into the darker realms of alternative pop. This propelled the band into the charts worldwide with singles like “Strangelove,” “Policy of Truth” and “Personal Jesus.”
Depeche Mode are currently touring in support of last year’s album release, Playing the Angel, and will be performing at the Hard Rock Live on April 30 in a unique setting. Called “Theater Under The Stars,” the band will essentially be playing in a specially constructed stage area in the parking lot. Opening will be She Wants Revenge.
Due to the parking being sectioned down because of this configuration, and since it’s the opening day of this year’s Rehab, the Hard Rock has special parking instructions for those attending. You can read them here. Make sure to allow extra time to deal with this, as it could easily add an extra half hour to your parking plans.
After the show, I’m told the band will be making available a live cd of the gig for purchase via download at their website. Scream loud enough and you just may hear yourself immortalized.
