Gordon Lightfoot at The Orleans
Legendary folk singer Gordon Lightfoot got his start in his native Canada in the early 60s playing coffehouses, and while he achieved recognition in his home country, worldwide recognition came first as a songwriter. Artists such as Peter, Paul and Mary, Richie Havens, Judy Collins, Elvis and Harry Belafonte all had hits covering Lightfoot’s songs. It wasn’t until the late-60s that he made the charts in America singing his own songs; among them “If You Could Read My Mind,” “Sundown” and the epic historic tale “Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.”
Despite suffering a near-fatal abdominal hemorrhage in 2002, Lightfoot continues to record and tour. This prolific musician will be appearing for four nights at The Orleans starting May 4.
