Richard Butler and Oslo at House of Blues
As the lead vocalist and songwriter of The Psychedelic Furs, Richard Butler helped shape the sound of the mid-80s new wave era. Over the course of seven studio albums, the band charted with hits like “Love My Way” and “The Ghost In You.” But it is “Pretty In Pink,” the theme from the movie of the same name, with which the band will forever be best known. Butler, and his side project Love Spit Love, have also achieved soundtrack greatness with “How Soon Is Now,” the theme song for the television series, “Charmed.”
In 2006, Butler is forging new ground with his upcoming self-titled solo album, due in stores on April 18. On the new project, he worked with Jon Carin, who has previously worked with Pink Floyd and Bryan Ferry, and the singer describes the songs on this release as the most personal he has ever written.
Butler will be previewing tracks from the new album, as well as classic gems from his past, in early April at the House of Blues for an all-ages low-dough show. Opening will be Los Angeles-based Oslo, whose sound is very reminiscent of the new wave pioneered by the Psychedelic Furs mixed with a touch of 90s Brit-pop.
