Valley of Fire State Park

You can get to the Valley of Fire by heading northeast 55 miles from Las Vegas via I-15. It gets its name from the red sandstone formations that make up this 56,000 acre park. They were created from sand dunes way back during the Jurassic period and the 100 millions years of transformation since. The Valley of Fire was Nevada’s first state park and attracts hikers, campers, and those looking to see the famous petroglyphs. The best places to see the ancient Anasazi rock art is in Petroglyph Canyon and on Atlatl Rock.
