Legal Issues Abound From Several All-Star Parties
The recent NBA All-Star Weekend was filled with celebrity parties all over town. But it’s come to light that several of the parties that were promoted as hosted by certain people were never actually on the level with clubgoers. And some celebrities themselves may be in trouble for not honoring actual committments.
Shaquille O’Neal is in the middle of an alleged $75,000 dispute around a party that had him listed as hosting at RAIN on Friday night. Though the corporate sponsor had bought out the club for the event, Shaq boycotted the party and the Walk of Stars unveiling earlier that night at the Brenden Theatres (also at the Palms). He instead headed for Tryst at the Wynn. This one could get messy.
Rap mogul Jay-Z has filed legal papers against ICE nightclub for promoting an appearance on Saturday night not only using the rapper’s likeness and name, but also those of his companies, Rockafella Records and Rocawear. The papers claim Jay-Z was never contracted to appear and the club was falsely claiming that was the case.
Jay-Z instead went ahead with a planned private dinner and party at TAO at The Venetian. Co-hosted with LeBron James, the 1500 person guest list was a who’s who of celebrities in town. Everyone from Christina Aguilera and Diddy to Kobe Bryant and Wayne Newton made it in to the party.
For some reason, I wasn’t on that list (just kidding!), but TAO was kind enough to send over the pics used in this post from the event anyways.
