Harrah’s Las Vegas

harrahOwned by Harrah’s Entertainment – which also owns Bally’s Las Vegas , Caesars Palace, Flamingo Las Vegas, Paris Las Vegas, Imperial Palace and Cascata Golf Course – Harrah’s is a hotel and casino located on the Las Vegas Strip. The theme is carnival and the hotel is proud to offer its guests the possibility to spend time at the pool, shop, relax at the spa, indulge in great meals or spend the night with friends in exciting lounges and bars.

Year opened

The hotel opened in 1973 under the name of the Holiday Casino. In 1992, the property was renamed Harrah’s. After the 1997 renovation the theme was changed to “carnival party”. During the renovation they also extended the tower, adding 986 rooms.

Hotels/Resorts near-by: the hotel and casino is located between Imperial Palace and Casino Royal, opposite the Forum Shops and Mirage Las Vegas . There is a Las Vegas Monorail stop at the rear of the property and a shuttle connects the property to Rio.

Harrah’s offers 2,677 rooms and suites.

The casino

The casino at Harrah’s offers a total of 86,664 square feet of gaming space. There are more than 1,200 slots to choose from, with denominations ranging from 1 cent to $500. The table games include a poker room, baccarat & mini baccarat, blackjack, craps, and roulette. Guests can also play Keno 24 hours a day or bet on their favorite sports or races at the Sports Pit.

General prices

Especially if you plan to stay at Harrah’s outside the peak season, you’ll be pleased to find excellent rates here. A classic room starts at $49 per night, while a luxury room costs only $59 per night. A Petite Suite (600-700 square feet) starts at $84 per night.

You really don’t need to book too far in advance (and it’s not even possible to book more than two weeks in advance) in order to save money.

Restaurants

pizza_300x225Harrah’s offers seven outstanding restaurants, ranging from a Steakhouse where you can grab grilled-to-order steaks, prime rib, seafood and poultry, to an excellent combination of restaurant and bar where anything is possible, and just stopping to try some Asian cooking and Italian goodness.

Nightlife

The nightlife at Harrah’s Las Vegas is centered around the Carnaval Court Bar & Grill, the most exciting outdoor entertainment venue on the Las Vegas Strip.

It’s the place where you can eat, drink and dance the night away. The live bands perform pop, jazz, beach music and more. DJs also keep the atmosphere hot.

The early bands play between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. from Sunday to Thursday and from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. The late bands play until midnight (1 a.m. respectively) and the DJs spin from midnight until 2 a.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday and from 1 a.m. to 3 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.

The talented staff does pretty much anything to entertain the crowds: from singing and dancing to juggling bottles. During the weekends, guests can play Blackjack.

Entertainment

For those who prefer to avoid the typical Las Vegas shows, Harrah’s won’t be a disappointment. You can choose among Rita Rudner’s show, The Improv Comedy Club, The Mac King Magic Show or Legends in Concert. Each show offers something unique for the audience and they are all worth your time.

Things to do

For those who want to relax, Harrah’s offers a sparkling outdoor swimming pool, a luxurious spa, state-of-the-art health club and full-service beauty salon.

If you want to spend a more active vacation, there’s the possibility to play golf close to the Strip. And you can always burn off some calories while checking out the stores within the Carnaval Court.
