M Resort Las Vegas

M Resort may be technically located on the Las Vegas Strip, but it is all on its own in terms of location, atmosphere and market share. It’s the kind of Las Vegas hotel that is not necessarily top of the mind for those planning a vacation to Sin City, and yet it’s a sought-after destination for those who want to enjoy what Las Vegas has to offer from a distance while having access to one-of-a-kind dining experiences and upscale, personalized amenities found only at boutique hotels.

A Little History

M Resort is relatively new to the Las Vegas scene. It was built by Anthony Marnell, III, the son of Tony Marnell, who was the building pioneer behind many resorts in Las Vegas including the Mirage, Caesars Palace and Wynn Las Vegas. The resort, which is the first to be seen when visitors drive in from Southern California, was opened March 2009.

Hotels/Resorts Located Nearby: The M Resort is all on its own and no other resorts are within walking distance. South Point Hotel Casino and Spa, the next closest property, is located four miles north.

Rooms and Suites

M Resort is considered a boutique hotel with only 390 total resort rooms (compared to the thousands that other Las Vegas hotels have). Of these, 351 are standard rooms and 39 are guest suites (ranging in size from 1,400 to 2,400 square feet). They are energy efficient, sleek and sophisticated with modern furnishings and, in many cases, stellar views out over the Nevada desert and the Las Vegas Strip via floor-to-ceiling windows. The guest suites are outfitted with sitting areas and bar counters, making them suitable for small company cocktail parties or gatherings.

General Prices

The prices at M Resort are driven by supply and demand. Because it is a small property, when rooms fill up and supply decreases, the price on remaining rooms increases. It is a particularly popular property for conferences, and when there is a conference or convention at the resort, prices are higher. If all rooms are available, though, the price for a room package starts at about $75.00 per night.

The Casino

Gamblers will find 92,000 square feet of gaming space at M Resort. Highlights include nearly 1,900 slot machines, 64 gaming tables and a live action poker room, which hosts a weekly women’s poker tournament. There is also a large sports book, which provides guests the opportunity to take part in mobile betting throughout the casino area.

The casino is impressively large though a bit confusing to navigate. Nonetheless, ample signage directs patrons to where they need to go.

Restaurants

If people know nothing else about M Resort, they need to know that this hotel has got some of the hottest dining establishments in Las Vegas. Dining selections at the property offer Marnell family-specific recipes and a reserve list of beef from the Marnell family ranch. Some of the wines served at M Resort are packaged under the Marnell family label as well. There are seven casual and fine dining options, many of which offer outside dining, which is rare to find in Las Vegas.

Nightlife

M Resort doesn’t have any nightclubs, so those looking for Las Vegas’ most popular DJs are better off heading out somewhere else for the evening. What it lacks in dance floors, though, it makes up in free, live music and several bars to pass the time.

People visit M Resort for its quiet and relaxing atmosphere, and those looking for a laundry list of diversions such as on-site museums, exhibits and shows won’t find them here. Things to Do

Those staying at M Resort have the opportunity to take advantage of several on-site amenities. Spa Mio specializes in customized treatment packages, and a large family pool as well as an adult-only pool offer day and nighttime diversions off the casino floor.

Ideal Visitors

M Resort is particularly popular with people coming out of Southern California for the weekend, and locals are also quite fond of the property, but it has the opportunity to appeal to a much larger demographic. Anyone who wants an intimate but classy hotel experience will appreciate the atmosphere and service at M Resort.

Those who would like to check out the hustle and bustle of Las Vegas but remain removed from all that glitters will appreciate that M Resort offers a free shuttle bus to and from Fashion Show Mall four times a day and to and from McCarran International Airport eleven times a day. Though families are welcome to stay at M Resort, there honestly isn’t a whole lot to keep the kids busy beyond the pool area.

Travel Tips

If you’ll only be going from M Resort to the Strip and back, skip the taxis and take advantage of the free shuttle service offered to and from M Resort, the airport and Fashion Show Mall.
M Resort’s 24/7 happy hour means that specialty cocktails are always $5.00 and beer is always $3.00 in every bar and restaurant throughout the property. There are appetizer specials at many of the restaurants as well but for limited periods of time each day.
If you’re just going to the spa, Baby Cakes or the pool, park in the west parking lot. If you’re staying at the property or planning on wandering throughout it, it makes more sense to park in the parking garage on the east side.

Indulge in the natural lighting throughout the resort; it’s hard to find large non-reflective windows in most Las Vegas hotels.
