New Spring Displays at the Bellagio
The Bellagio’s Conservatory & Botanical Gardens has done a seasonal change of their displays. Gone is the homage to the Chinese New Year and in its place is a Springtime-inspired exhibit that is meant to look like an oversized backyard garden.
Tens of thousands of individual plants and blooms have been placed in ways to simulate a giant straw hat, gardener’s trowel, watering can and pots, butterflies, herons and more. Each of these floral creations weighs between 500 and 2,000 pounds.
The Conservatory & Botanical Gardens are open 24 hours and this Spring display will be up through May 5, 2007.
If you prefer your art a bit more edible, the nearby Jean Philippe Pâtisserie at the Bellagio has its own ode to Spring.
Executive Pastry Chef Jean-Philippe Maury spent one month, and approximately 520 pounds of dark and milk chocolate, to create a one-of-a-kind sculpture that sits on display in the sweets shop. Sitting 7-feet tall and 8-feet long, the creation features two hand-crafted chocolate bunnies fish from an animated steamboat floating on a pond of sugar waves, complete with a working paddle. Nestled in amongst the waves are ducks and other water denizens.
The Jean Philippe Pâtisserie is open from 7am until 11pm Mondays through Thursdays and from 7am until midnight Fridays through Sundays.
