Sahara Hotel & Casino
Editor’s note: The Sahara closed permanently in May 2011.

The hotel open in 1952 and was the sixth resort to open on the Strip. In 1963 a 24-story tower was added. In 1987 another tower was added (this time 27 stories) and new porte-cochere was added by the relocated pool in 1997. In 1999, the roller coaster called Speed-The Ride and the NASCAR restaurant were added.
