Vegas Clubs Win at 2006 Club World Awards
The 2006 Club World Awards were held at the infamous World Music Conference in Miami, FL, on March 24, recognizing the best in North American clublife. Competition was tight in all categories, but Las Vegas nightclubs pulled victories in five of the categories.
Tao Nightclub at the Venetian won two awards: for “Best New Club” and also “Best Interior Design.” The second award is shared with Studio Gaia, which designed the theme of an old Buddhist temple in the middle of Las Vegas for the club.
Tabu Ultra Lounge at the MGM Grand took the award for “Best Lounge Club,” for the third year in a row — and with good reason. Its intimate atmosphere, weekly theme nights and interactive tables that invite dancing help draw a packed club on an almost nightly basis.
“Best Video System” went to Vivid at The Venetian for it’s Laser Magic set-up that creates 3-D virtual go-go dancers by projecting life-size moving images onto transparent screens. The club is operated by Vivid Entertainment, the world’s leading adult film studio, so many of the virtual dancers are from their roster of actresses.
And in the final win, Roonie G. of Ra at the Luxor, received the “Best Resident VJ” award for his mastery of mixing audio and video together for a complete club show.
The winners were decided by a panel of 10 industry experts, from a list of nominees chosen by a panel from Club Systems International magazine.
