Lance Burton Celebrates 10th Anniversary With Solid Gold

Traditional tenth anniversary gifts are supposed to be made of tin or aluminum. But for Lance Burton‘s tenth anniversary on the Strip at the Monte Carlo, he’s getting gold — solid gold, in fact. No, the man consistently voted one of the world’s greatest magicians isn’t getting a hefty anniversary bonus for his longevity. The illusionist is planning to use the gold in a new trick that will be introduced into his show beginning with his anniversary next month.

The master magician will be making $10 million of solid gold bricks disappear nightly in his act. Burton claims that the trick has taken five years to work out and complicating matters is that due to insurance restrictions, he cannot actually touch the gold at any time during the trick. This is sure to be one of the heaviest guarded magic props in Vegas, as it will be escorted to and from the vault by armed guards and will only be out of the vault for the length of the trick each night.

In addition to introducing the new illusion, which I’ve heard is being called “The Solid Gold Lady,” Burton will be offering a special $10 anniversary discount off the Tuesday and Saturday night performances at 10 p.m. for the entire month of June.
