ATP Tennis Channel Open Comes to Las Vegas
For the first time in over twenty years, a pro tennis tournament will take place in Las Vegas. The ATP’s Tennis Channel Open is moving from Scottsdale to Vegas for a 10-day tennis festival beginning February 27. The 2006 Tennis Channel Open will take place at the brand-new Amanda & Stacy Darling Memorial Tennis Center, which features a 40-acre complex including 23 courts. The stadium court will expand via bleachers to a 3,000-3,500 capacity during the event.
Earlier this month it was announced that tennis star Andy Roddick has committed to play in the tournament. The No. 3 ranked player on the ATP tour and highest ranked player in the United States joins a lineup of other American tennis greats that includes Robby Ginepri, James Blake, and US Open-winning twins Bob and Mike Bryan, the world’s top-ranked doubles team.
