NHRA Drag Racing Events in Vegas Halloween Weekend 2009
This Halloween weekend, not only will the Strip be full of zombies, ghouls and other undead, but drag racers, as well. And no, I’m not just talking about men in dresses running really fast (though who knows, there may be a few of those, too).
I’m talking race car drivers and their fans in town for this weekend’s NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway (LVMS).
The actual LMVS events start Thursday, October 29 with the elimination qualifier races and end Sunday, November 1 with the finals. Tickets range from $16 on Thursday to $65 on Saturday and Sunday, with weekend passes running $145.
But if the slots have already gotten ahold of your Vegas funds, never fear. There are still several free NHRA events you can check out right over the weekend.
The NHRA Vegas Style Fan Fest will take place on Thursday evening from 6pm until 8pm at the Fremont Street Experience downtown. NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series stars Antron Brown, Larry Dixon, Tony Pedregon, Tim Wilkerson, Bob Tasca III, Jeff Arend, Jeg Coughlin, Allen Johnson, Switzerland’s Urs Ehrbacher, Michael Phillips, Bob Bode, David Hope and Holland’s Lex Joon will participate in an autograph session at the 3rd Street/Fremont St intersection. The first 500 fans in the autograph line will receive a free special-edition poster featuring select drivers in NHRA’s Countdown to 1 playoffs.
If that’s not enough autographs for you, the Don Schumacher Racing team will be taking over the Stratosphere for a meet-and-greet session on Friday (October 30) night from 9pm to 10pm. Drivers Tony Schumacher, Ron Capps, Cory McClenathan, Jack Beckman, Matt Hagan and Matt Smith will be there signing for fans on the casino floor.
