McCarran International Airport (LAS)

Most travelers heading to Sin City arrive and depart out of McCarran International Airport – aka, Las Vegas Airport. For those that want to stock up on their Vegas trivia, the airport was named after U.S. Senator Pat McCarran, an influential aviation advocate.

With all the conventions, weddings and Elvis devotees, it should come as no surprise that LAS is the 9th busiest airport in the world. For those that just can’t wait to try their luck – or are hoping to depart on a positive note – the airport has more than 1300 slot machines. It is also home to the Howard W. Cannon Aviation Museum.

US Airways, Southwest Airlines and Allegiant Air have a hub at LAS, but the airport is also serviced by Sun Country, JetBlue, Delta Airlines and most major carriers.

Although there is no light rail or train connection, visitors can reach the strip via the cab services include Checker/Yellow/Star, NLV/ACE/Union/Vegas-Western, Whittlesea/Henderson, Western Cab Company, Desert Cab Company or any number of airport shuttles. You can check traffic before you make the trek at Las Vegas.gov

If your spin at the tables leaves your pockets a little empty, the bus line of Citizens Area Transit – CAT – also stops at McCarran Airport.
