1971: Lady Card Dealers

The first female card dealers were hired in 1971. Union Plaza, Downtown and Silver Slipper, located on the Las Vegas Strip, were the first casinos to introduce them. Until then, women had been discouraged from working as dealers. Some say that in 1966, only one in three dealer schools would even accept women as students.
