Pai Gow Poker Lingo: The Dragon

“The Dragon” hand is a second hand that the player has the option of playing. Depending on the casino, this could be a community hand for all to play should they want to make an additional bet. Or, it is an option that is passed from player to player until someone accepts it. It is not a required bed, rather a bonus bet. Those that play the Dragon do so in different situations depending on their own style of play, or superstitions. Some only play the Dragon when their own hand is extra strong, and others only play the Dragon when they think their main hand is going to lose. In this case they are trying to make up for their loss, but run the risk of losing twice. In most casinos, if you want to play the Dragon, you must make a bet the same size or greater than your original bet.
